How Do You Care For Eucalyptus Trees?
Eucalyptus trees are low-maintenance trees that can add beauty and value to your home. Native to Australia, they are best know as the primary food source for koala bears. They can grow in the ground, but many species also do well in containers. Eucalyptus trees are adaptable and can thrive in many environments. Established trees need little care, but they should not be ignored. Plant eucalyptus trees in full sun. Move trees planted in containers to sunny areas, or replant in the ground. Some species can survive in partial shade, but most prefer the full sun. Water eucalyptus trees occasionally. Increase the watering intervals during drought or for potted trees. Allow the soil to dry out between each watering. Treat potted trees with a slow-release fertilizer. Established trees planted in the ground do not need to be artificially fertilized. Prune the trees in the summer. Remove the top growth and cut to retain the desired shape. Cut more off the top to control the height, if desired. P
