How Do You Care For Dracaena Houseplants?
Dracaena houseplants present a palm-like in appearance, but are considered “false palms” because there have no real relation to palm trees. Dracaenas give a home an attractive, tropical look and are often made a focal point in the décor. Caring for the dracaena houseplant requires meeting its few, simple needs. Repot dracaena houseplants in the spring, at two-year intervals, to allow roots plenty of space for new growth. Use organic compost to provide the required nutrients. Locate dracaenas in a lightly shaded location. Ideal placement would be close to an east or west window. Plants that get too much sunlight feature leaves with bleached, dry patches, and should be moved to a shadier location. Maintain a moderately warm room temperature–a minimum of 55 degrees F. Soft leaves with brown edges are a sign the plant is too cold and should be moved to a warmer spot. Do not leave dracaena too close to windows on cold nights.
