Also known as peace lily after its distinctive white bloom, the Spathiphyllum (Spathiphyllum wallisii) is a popular indoor plant and ornamental housewarming gift because it requires very little care. It has pointed but broad, dark green and shiny leaves with long stems growing in a rosette pattern from its base. The white flower, composed of a petiole or spathe cupping a finger-like spadix, shoots up from the center of the circle of leaves.
