The Blood Python is a heavy bodied snake from Indonesia. Growing to lengths of 6 feet or more and weighing in at 30 lbs. an adult Blood Python can make a breathtaking pet. With the right knowledge and some diligence even a relatively novice snake keeper can successfully maintain these pythons. Purchase a secure enclosure for the snake. A juvenile can be kept in a 10 gallon glass aquarium. As the snake grows it will require a larger enclosure. A large adult will eventually require 8 to 12 square feet of floor space. More so than with other pythons Blood Pythons require a well ventilated enclosure but it must still be able to maintain the required 50%-70% relative humidity these snakes need to thrive.
