Crystal Beach, on the Bolivar Peninsula of Texas, has more than 27 miles of unspoiled coastline. The beaches here are wide and sandy, among the best on the Gulf Coast of Texas. This sparsely settled area makes a fine location for camping and enjoys easy access from the port town of Galveston. Access from Galveston is via the Galveston-Bolivar Ferry (free) and then Highway 87 along the coast. It takes the ferry about 20 minutes to cross the bay to Bolivar Peninsula. Secure the proper permit for camping on the beach. Camping is allowed anywhere along Crystal Beach and the Bolivar Peninsula’s 27 miles of coastline.
