How Do You Calculate Gallons Per Minute?
In times of high gas prices, it can be very helpful to know how much gas you are burning per minute in an average week of driving. If it seems higher than previous results you have gotten when doing this test, it could be a sign that you might want to change your driving patterns to avoid heavy traffic when possible to save time and money. Keep a log of how much time you spend driving during the week. The easiest way to do this is to keep a notebook in your glove compartment and keep a log of your driving time each day. You don’t have to do this every week, but do it once in awhile to help calculate your gallons of gas used per minute calculation. Determine the amount of gas that you use during the week. Start the week with a full tank of gas. If you fill up during the week, write down the amount of gas in gallons that you purchased.
