An array of vegetables will work for container gardens in patio spaces, but there are some things to remember when purchasing seeds. Decide what types of vegetables you want to grow on your patio. Most types of vegetables grow well in containers, and the possibilities for gardens are extensive. According to the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, you can grow tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, green onions, beans, lettuce, squash, radishes and parsley as part of a patio garden.
