The first step toward succeeding at fast-pitch softball is to buy the right equipment. There are a few basics you’ll need right away, such a glove and shoes. As you gain softball experience, you can start building your repertoire of more specialized equipment. Look for a glove which is appropriate for the position you intend to play. Special gloves are made for catchers and first basemen, but you need to choose gloves carefully for other positions as well. The biggest glove possible is best for the outfield positions in order to snag flyballs. For the infield, especially second base and third base, you’ll need a smaller glove because you must quickly remove the ball from the glove in order to throw it to first base.
