Wood shelving is the thing that can completely change and enhance any basement that has a lack of storage space. Shelving can be quickly built and installed by most average people. There’s no need for a professional carpenter. Decide on which wood to use for the project. For a cheaper and easier job, try using alder. However, for something nicer and more long lasting, try using a wood like cedar or pine. Purchase at least 120 feet of the wood, each plank being a foot in width. Cut eight of the planks to 10 feet long, two of them to 8 feet long, and seven of them to a foot long. Do this using a table saw. Go slowly and try to make as clean of cuts as possible. Use a standard router to cut slots for the shelving sections to fit in. Cut a slot every foot and on the ends of the pieces that are 8 feet long, and cut a slot on the top and bottom ends and in the middle of each of the 10 foot long pieces. Make sure that you mark before cutting. Use a power-sander to thoroughly sand all of the p
