How Do You Build Skate Board Ramps?
A well-built ramp can bring excitement and variety to any skateboarding session. Easy and inexpensive to build, homemade ramps give anyone the opportunity to design his or her own backyard skate park. Make a mock-up of the ramp out of paper or cardboard. Use this mock-up to identify the ideal height, length and transition angle of the ramp. Draw two side panels on a sheet of 1/2 inch plywood. These sections should look as if you are viewing the ramp from the side. The side panels will determine the ultimate shape and size of the ramp. On a sheet of 1/4 inch plywood, draw a large rectangle for the transition (the curved surface or the ramp). The rectangle should be the desired width of the ramp and long enough that it will cover the ramp face when bent into shape. Cut 2x4s to the width of the ramp, excluding 1 inch for the side panels. Cut one 2×4 for every 4 inches of the length of the transition. For example, if the transition rectangle is 24 inches long, cut six 2x4s. Cut out the ram
