How Do You Build Hanging Plate Display Shelves?
A set of hanging shelves to display your decorative plates is a deceptively easy project that can add color and beauty to an otherwise plain corner. Each unit can hold up to six plates and their stands. The whole project should take 30 minutes to an hour, provided you have the tools and lumber on hand, not counting drying time for the paint. It is suitable even for beginning do-it-yourselfers. Drill pilot holes 1/2 inch deep in two adjacent ends of each 12-inch square plank, using a drill bit 1/8 inch narrower than the diameter of your screws. Position the holes on center, each 4 inches from the edge of the plank’s end. Drill pilot holes along both 12-inch sides of the 12–by-14-inch planks. Drill all the way through the plank, 1/2 inch from the edge. Position the holes each 4 inches from the 14-inch edges of the plank.
