How Do You Build An Indoor Tiki Bar?
It may be snowing outside, but tropical paradise lives on in your den or basement. Follow a few easy steps to eternal summer. Start with a tall bar table (available at Home Depot) or any old table. If you want a roof, construct it out of 2x4s or bamboo poles, depending on your design. Nail a plywood sheet to the roof. Use a staple or nail gun to attach thatching (palm or other leaves) to the plywood sheet. Use four more 2x4s or bamboo poles to attach the roof to the table base. If you have the skill and tools, drill four holes in the table top for the poles. Otherwise, make sure the roof is securely attached to the base with twine or cable ties. Wrap bamboo skirting along the edge of the table. Staple the bamboo into place. Nicer backyard fencing is available at hardware stores, but since the bar will be indoors you can get cheaper reed fencing or bamboo mats from a party store. Decorate with lanterns, tropical fruit and flowers. Don’t forget umbrellas for the drinks!
