A workshop bench purchased at a hardware or home improvement store is often costly. Since a store bought workshop bench often requires assembly, building your own at a fraction of the cost can prove to be a very logical choice. Measure and cut the legs and support pieces of the workshop bench. Cut two of the 2-inch by 4-inch by 8-foot boards in half so you have four pieces that are 4 feet long. Then cut one of the 2-inch by 4-inch by 8-foot pieces into four pieces measuring 2 feet long. From the remaining two pieces, you will need to cut two pieces measuring 3 feet and 4 inches long, and two pieces measuring 1 foot and 8 inches long.
