Star Trek is a science fiction television show set in a distant future in outer space. The characters on the show typically have access to an array of fictional futuristic technology. One of the most common pieces of technology that characters have had through each new generation and new season is the “communicator.” The communicator is equivalent to an extremely futuristic cellular phone. With a little bit of ingenuity and a lot of creativity you can easily take your own cell phone and make it look like a working communicator, much like the ones found on Star Trek. Rough up the skins by rubbing your steel wool against them until the whole surface is no longer smooth. Typically spray paint doesn’t hold up very well on purely smooth finished plastic.
