How Do You Build A Wooden Toy Helicopter?

0

Quality wooden toys can be difficult to locate in stores, yet they are often the most memorable toys a child can have and play with. Wooden toys lack sounds and flashing lights but they can inspire a child’s imagination. Building a toy helicopter can be a project shared between a father and son, and the memories of building and playing with the toy will last much longer than many plastic versions. Draw an elliptical shape on a block of 3 1/2- by 1 3/4-inch oak to outline the helicopter cabin. Leave the bottom of the block flat for ease of adding landing gear to the bottom of the helicopter cabin. Cut out the outlined cabin with a scroll saw. Cut four struts for the helicopter from 1/4-inch dowel. Each strut should be 2 1/4 inches long. Cut two landing skids from 1/2-inch dowel. Each landing skid should be 6 1/4 inches long. Trace a pattern of a four-blade rotor on a piece of paper that is 8 1/2 inches wide from one tip to the rotor tip directly across from it. It may be easier to draw
