An essential part of constructing a wooden corral for your horse is building the gate. A wooden corral gate is composed of three main sections: the post, the rails and the boards or panels. Set your gate posts before you set the rest of the posts of the corral, since all the other posts can be adjusted afterward. You may even want to hang your gate before putting in any other posts to ensure the gate posts are set correctly. Measure the width, height and length of the space in the corral where you will hang the gate. Standard gate widths range from 10 feet to 16 feet.
