How Do You Build A Wood Retaining Wall?

0

This how to is for a retaining wall that is not the most aesthetically pleasing but easy to construct and will hold back a hill up to 6 feet. This will be done by sinking treated beams into the ground and nailing treated lumber to the hill side of these beams. First plan your project. You will want to plan the size and height of your wall. This will help in step 2 of determining what you need for the project. Now that you have your plans you can go and buy your material. The taller the wall the bigger and longer support beams you will want to get and you will have to place them closer together as well. For example if you have a 6 foot wall I recommend 6×8 beams that are 10-12 feet long every 2 feet. You will also need to purchase nails and treated lumber to make the wall. Prepare your work area. -Dig the holes for the support beams -Level off the ground where the wall boards will start -Dig the hill back a ways so you have room to work. You will want to put some hard packing gravel in
