How Do You Build A Tree Fort With A Platform?
• Find a good location. Look for four trees that form a square. Be sure the ground is firm and level. • Gather materials. Look for old pressure-treated 2″ x 4″ boards, planks and plywood. Ask your neighbors and check out the nearby salvage yard. • Ask for help. Ask an adult to cut the boards to the length you’ll need. • Build the platform. • Assemble the 2″ x 4″ boards into a square between the trees. • Attach several more boards, about a foot apart, on the inside of the square. This creates a frame for the platform. • Place the plywood across the top of the frame. Hammer the plywood into the 2″ x 4″ boards. • Build the walls. Leave openings for doors and windows. • Attach 2″ x 4″ boards to the inside of the trees. • Place the boards horizontally from one tree to another. • Place a board near the top of each wall and another near the bottom of each wall.
