A bookshelf can be a practical and great space saver and can hold more than just books! These instructions will guide you through building your own bookshelf with an adjustable shelf. Afterwards, you can stain or paint it to match the theme in your room. This simple bookshelf is great for dorm rooms! Decide the dimensions you want for your bookshelf. For explanation purposes I am going to build a bookshelf that is 35″ long x 12″ wide x 28″ tall. Make sure to write these dimensions down so you don’t forget! Cut the sides. We are going lay the top board of the bookshelf over the sides (as well as the bottom) so we must cut the sides shorter to allow for this. Since we are using 3/4″ Plywood for the frame and shelf (or shelves). We need to take 1 1/2″ off of our desired height. So for mine, I will take 28 – 1.5 = 26.5 inches. We also need to allow for the backing and the front trim work. Since we will be using 1/4″ Plywood for both, take off 1/2″ to get the desired width. So for mine, I w
