If building a rock fountain with an in-ground base, begin by digging a hole the size and shape of the fountain base or basin. If building an above-ground fountain, clear the ground and level it. Place the pond liner or fountain basin on the prepared site. Following the manufacturer’s specifications, install the pump, center fountain pipe and wiring. Make sure the center fountain pipe is well-secured so that a shifting of rocks or falls won’t dislodge it. Place the pump in a safe location as well.
