How Do You Build A Road Race Car?
Road races aren’t won by cars that are necessarily outstanding at any one thing; victory most often goes to those cars that simply do everything well. All aspects of performance have to balance. A balanced chassis will allow the driver to focus all of his attention on smooth transitions, safe passing and consistently fast lap times. In motor sports, victory starts at the drawing board. Start with the powertrain and design around it. Any good race car is built around the heaviest and most important bits, which will in most cases be the engine, transmission and driver. You’ll want to begin your design by putting the engine and transmission as close to your car’s center of gravity (CG) and center of wheelbase (which would ideally be in the same place). Set the wheelbase. A long wheelbase (distance between the center of the front and rear axles) will make your car more predictable and stable at high speeds, but it will also make your car less nimble in low-speed corners and passing maneuve
