How Do You Build A Poultry Breeding House?
The first thing you need when raising poultry a place for the birds to live. A pen will allow the chickens to remain caged and safe from predators, but the birds will need a house. Eggs laying hens will need their nest boxes in a coup, or house, that is safe from predators and well ventilated. Buying a coup costs hundreds of dollars, but building a poultry coup will save money. Cut six pieces of 2″x4″ to 24 inches, two to 48 inches, and keep two at 72 inches. Assemble a rectangle with the 72-inch and 48-inch lumber pieces and wood screws, with the 4 inch side on the outside, putting the screws into the 72 inch piece going through into the 48 inch piece. Attach one 24-inch 2″x4″ in each corner of the rectangle with the 4 inch side facing forward to serve as the legs, and attach the remaining two 24 inch legs in the center of the rectangle the same way. Screw a 48-by-68-inch plywood board to the top of the rectangle. This will complete the house’s platform. Cut three 72-inch 2″x4″ pieces
