It is less expensive to make your own concrete garden items, but to do that, you need to know how to make a mold for concrete. Making a mold can be fun, and it is fairly simple, too. But it can take a couple of days. Using concrete molds allows you to inexpensively make your own flag stone, cement tiles, statuettes and other garden items. Place the model you want to use on a wood base, and then seal it with a clear acrylic spray and sealer. Apply a release agent to the object, otherwise it may break as you remove the rubber mold. Apply a first coat of liquid rubber compound to the model with a stiff brush. Include about an inch around the model on the bottom wood base.This will give your mold a slight lip, making it easier to handle. Allow it to dry for an hour.
