How Do You Build A Match Stick Rocket?
I know Mom and Dad said not to play with matches, but this is a little something I used to make that I thought some of you might get a kick out of. I know the guys at work do when I build my little “MacGyver” toy out of odds and ends from every bodies lunch buckets. Tear a strip of aluminum foil 1 1/2 – 1 3/4 inches wide and 4-5 inches long, wrap the foil around the end of a round pencil or pen leaving about 3/8ths of an inch hanging off the end. Wrap foil at least 2 full turns around pencil. While holding foil on pencil to keep it from spinning, twist the excess foil hanging off the end in the direction you wrapped it to form a point. Grasp the point of rocket and gently pull pencil or pen from the foil, cut or tear 3-4 match heads from book of matches and insert into foil tube. Wood match heads can be substituted but you will need to scrape the match head from wood to keep the weight down. Now you need to prepare the launch pad, Bend the outer leg of paper clip out to about 45 degree
