A low-profile deck is a structure that is built low to the ground and can be constructed for various types of homes. It can cover an old patio or used with one story homes that are at ground level. They can be built from many types of wood; cedar is common. Measure the dimensions for the size of the deck. Transfer the measurement for the width of the deck to the 2-by-8 board. Cut the 2-by-8 board to the required length with the circular saw. Drill holes into the 2-by-6 board every 2 feet along the length of the board. Set the 2-by-6 board or ledger against the bottom of the house and mark the locations of the hole on the wall. Remove the ledger board and drill holes into the foundation, on the marks you made in step 2, with a masonry bit. Set the ledger back against the wall and insert lag screws into the holes.
