Build a Star Wars lightsaber prop replica for a costume or collecting. It’s impossible to make an actual, working lightsaber. You build the hilt. The blade in the movie is made from energy going through a crystal, which creates a controlled beam of light. You can model the lightsaber after one from the movie or create your own look. For example, you can model the grips like Anakin Skywalker’s blade in “Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith” by attaching several thin pieces of rubber around the base of the hilt. Spray the PVC pipe silver. If you are using a metal cylinder, you don’t need to spray it unless you want. Super glue or screw on the caps at both ends of the cylinder. Spray paint the cap. Look for different-looking caps to use at each end. Cut out your rubber grips. Make the grips any way you want. For example, you can have the rubber grip wrap completely around the hilt.
