How Do You Build A Leaning Ladder Bookshelf?

0

Leaning ladder bookshelves are surprisingly sturdy. As the name implies, these shelves look just like ladders. They hold a large number of books without taking up a lot of space. If you have some woodworking skills, you can build these stylish shelves yourself for your living room. Put on safety goggles, a dust mask and a pair of earplugs. Lay the 4 by 4 inch sheet of plywood across two sawhorses. Cut the plywood into five equally wide pieces, making sure to cut with the grain. These are your shelf pieces. Cut each shelf’s depth off the shelf, starting with the smallest depth. As this is a ladder shelf, the depth should get larger as the shelves go down. The top shelf should be 3 and 3/8 inches deep; add about an inch and an eight to each succeeding shelf. Cut the top of each 1 by 4 inch upright at a 10 degree angle. Make notches at this angle into both uprights. Sand the front of each shelf. After sanding, run a clothes iron set on “cotton” over the edge of the shelf. With a miter saw
