PVC pipe can be used to make a horse fence of any size. Putting up a PVC fence is similar to building almost any other type of post and rail system fence. When PVC breaks, it tends to shatter into small pieces that can injure a horse, so the fence line must be checked regularly for wear and breakage. Broken sections should be replaced immediately. Putting in the Fence Step 1 Measure spots every 6 feet along the fence perimeter. Dig holes a foot deep at each spot. Step 2 Saw PVC pipe into 6-foot lengths. You need one length for each hole.
