What exactly is unschooling? Does it mean skipping the basics as the name may imply to some? Actually, unschooling is the opposite of what it’s title may suggest. This form of education adopts the principle that learning is an everyday, anytime activity. While unschoolers do study all the basics, they don’t stick to strictly one boxed curriculum. Parents hand pick or choose all the educational materials themselves with the children assisting in the decision making process instid of purchasing an already planned curriculum. Another aspect of unschooling is that the students are learning even when class is not in session through educational activities such as PBS, arts, crafts/hobbies and any other self enrichment programs.
