How Do You Build A Fishing Jig?

0

You are out at your favorite fishing hole. When a worm will not get a bite and nothing seems to be biting on top water lures maybe you need a jig. A jig is a lure used for fishing along the bottom of a body of water. When the water surface gets too hot fish will migrate to the bottom to feed. If you do not have a jig then you can make your own. Use scissors to cut four feathers to twice the length of your hook. You may want to make them long and spindly to resemble a worm or small eel. Or, you may want to shape them with a little more girth to resemble the legs of a frog. You may even want to shape your feathers short and wide to look like a crayfish. Use your thread to tie the feathers to the shank of your hook. Start with a slip knot, wrap the thread snugly around the feathers until the top 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the feathers are covered, then finish with your favorite knot. Coat the thread with clear fingernail polish. Allow the polish to dry for at least an hour and go fishing.
