How Do You Build A Fish Livewell?
Before the popularity of catch-and-release fishing, most anglers kept their fish on a stringer tied to the side of their boats. But as tournaments and weekend fishing as a hobby gained in popularity, a certain stigma became attached to the idea of throwing out a dead fish at the end of a fishing trip. Because of this, the fishing livewell has grown in popularity. Many smaller boats don’t come equipped with livewells. However, a fish livewell can easily be constructed using a few parts from a local hardware store. Step 1 Remove one handle from cooler and drill a 1.5-inch hole. Step 2 Attach 1.5-inch bulkhead fitting to hole and fasten in place with silicone glue. Step 3 Cut a 3-foot length from drinking-style garden hose. Attach to bulkhead fitting with one hose clamp. Step 4 Attach bilge pump to hose using hose attachment on bilge pump. Step 5 On the other side of the cooler, drill a 2.5-inch hole slightly lower in the cooler. Step 6 Insert 2.5-inch drainage bulkhead fitting into hole
