How Do You Build A Fake Rock Wall?
Using real rocks to create an accent wall costs a lot and is a big project—the wall has to be reinforced to hold the weight of the rocks. Making a fake rock wall, however, is cheap and simple. If you have decent painting skills it can look quite classy. Use sheets of floral foam to cut the exterior shape of rocks. As you cut out the shapes lay the rocks side by side in the order they will be applied to the wall. Make sure to cut different shapes and sizes. Carve the top of the foam for each rock to create a rock texture. Make sure the edges are rounded and there are high and low points on each rock. Cover the rocks with newspaper that has been dipped in watered-down glue. Let the rocks dry. Paint the rocks a base color. Use a natural rock color, either brown or grey. Add highlights and lowlights to the rocks with a sponge by sponging on lighter and darker spots. Glue the rocks to the wall with strong glue. Let dry. Grout the space between the rocks.
