How Do You Build A Drum Composter?
A drum composter is a spherical composter that allows the compost to rotate. It minimizes odor and accelerates the biodegrading process of the compost. This drum composter is inexpensive and effective. A drum composter takes approximately two to three hours to build. Measure a circle with a 10-1/2 inch radius on the plywood. Cut the circle out of the plywood with a circular saw. Measure and mark the center length of the two 1-by-4 boards. Place two 2-by-4 boards onto the boards’ center marks to make a “T” shape. Nail and glue them to the 1-by-4 boards. Place the 1-by-4 boards on the ground with the 2-by-4 boards sticking up into the air. Measure each 13 inches from the top of each 2-by-4 board. Drill a hole through each of the boards at that spot. The hole needs to be wide enough for the rebar to slide through and turn around. Drill a hole in the center of each plywood piece the same size as in the 2-by-4 boards. Slide one end of the rebar through one of the plywood holes and then thro
