How Do You Build A Deck On A Flat Roof?
A flat roof can be an excellent place to hang out on a warm day with friends, or take in a little star-gazing in the evening. But most flat roofs aren’t built to accommodate you and your guests. Adding a deck onto your flat roof will make your flat roof a more inviting surface on which to enjoy your leisure time, sunbathing, or social affairs. Basic materials and carpentry skills are all you need to make a solid serviceable deck for your flat roof. Lay out 2 by 6 inch boards on the edge of the roof, spaced at 16 inches, to cover the area you want the deck to cover. Then take two more 2 by 6 boards and connect these at a right angle to the boards you’ve laid out. Connect the perpendicular boards to the first boards with 3 inch galvanized wood screws. Cut 1 by 6 inch pressure treated lumber to serve as the flooring for deck base you’ve just built. Cut the pieces long enough that you’ll have a 1 inch overhang on the ends of the base.
