A conga drum is a musical instrument of African origin, made of hardwood for the body and animal skin for the drumhead. People use conga drums for their novelty and musical enjoyment. Buying a conga drum can be expensive, but you can make your own with a few materials. Cut the beach ball apart so it is one loose skin. The skin of the ball must be soft enough to stretch and lay flat on the floor. Basketballs or soccer balls won’t work. Wrap the beach ball skin over one embroidery hoop. Then place the second hoop over the beach ball skin so the skin is sandwiched between the two of them. Make sure the skin is tight, because this will serve as the drumhead. Put a thin layer of carpenter’s glue on the inside rim of the drumhead. Then put the drumhead on top of the plastic pot.
