Sure you can go out and buy one, but you will probably not be able to find a cedar window box that fits your window perfectly. A cedar window box is easy to build and cost effective as well. Follow these steps to build one on your own. Design the cedar window box to be the exact width of your window, including the frame. The cedar window box can be as wide and as deep as you desire, but the length looks best when it’s the same width as your window. Cut the 1-inch-thick cedar plank to the desired width, length and depth. The front and back pieces should be equal as well as the two side pieces. The bottom should be as long as the front and back and as wide as the sides. Pre-drill two guide holes in each end of the front and back pieces. Do the same on the bottom piece.
