How Do You Build A Bubble-Powered Rocket?
Rocket kits line the shelves of hobby and science stores, from the simple to the elaborate. But there’s no need to spend lots of money for a set of frustrating instructions that would stump an engineer. With a boost from Alka-Seltzer or another fizzy antacid tablet, you can make your own bubble-powered rocket. Follow these steps to blast off. Cut an 8 ½ inch by 11 inch piece of paper in half, length wise. Wrap the short side of one half of the paper around the film canister to make a tube 11 inches tall. The lid end of the canister should be at bottom of the tube. Tape the tube together, and tape it securely to the side of the film canister without taping the lid shut. You’ll have your basic rocket shape. Cut the remaining piece of paper in half again. You will have 2 4-1/4-inch by 5-1/2-inch rectangles. Trace around a can or glass to draw a 4-inch diameter circle on one of the small rectangles. Cut out the circle. Make nose cone for your rocket. Make a cut in the paper. Tape the cone
