Your friends and associates will think you’re quite skilled when they see these professional-looking results. Dig a pit that is at least four feet in diameter and two feet below surface ground level. Place a 2-inch thick bed of gravel on the floor of the pit, and drive the stake into its center. Mix a small amount of dry mortar with water and with your trowel spread a 2-inch thick circular layer around the edges of the gravel. Smooth the surface with the trowel while the mortar is still wet.
