How Do You Bring Down High Fevers In Children?
When you child spikes a high fever normal reaction of a parent is worry. It is very important to stay calm. Keep a list of everything you do. Write down every time you give medication. Write down every time you take his/her temperature and what is was. This will help prevent overdosing and will provide you with a history. We always start off with Motrin. It seems to work best at bringing down a high fever quickly. If the fever continues to remain high our dr has recommended alternating Motrin and Tylenol every 3 hours. Please please check with your doctor before doing this as all do not recommend it. I am not a doctor. And please note Motrin is not recommended for children under 6-months-old. Another way to help bring down a high fever in addition to the motrin/tylenol is sponging down with luke warm water. This can be done while they are sleeping. In addition to sponging down a lukewarm bath is also recommended. Make sure the water is not cold or it could send the child into shock. Lu
