How Do You Brew Japanese (Sake) Rice Wine?

0

In Japan, rice wine is a popular drink, similar to drinking a glass of wine made from grapes in other parts of the world. Also like a fruit wine, rice wine is used in cooking to add flavor. If you have never tried a rice wine I think you might be in for a nice surprise. As a starter for my rice wine recipe, pour 1 quart of pre-made (sake) rice wine and 3 quarts water into a container of 4 cups steamed rice. Allow the rice to sit in the liquid for 3-4 weeks to ferment. About one month later, gently remove the rice from the container of liquid. Strain the rice and press with a spoon to get out all the liquid. Add this liquid to the fermented liquid which is the sake rice wine. Pour the rice wine into a bottle.
