White Cloud Mountain Minnows, also known as “White Clouds”, or sometimes even just “Clouds” are great starter fish for anyone interested in trying their hands at breeding egg laying fish. White clouds thrive in cooler water, so your tank does not even need a heater. They are very hardy, peaceful, active, and an all around attractive freshwater fish. One rather unusual trait is that unlike most egg scattering species, White Clouds usually ignore their eggs and young. This makes their keeper’s job much easier than most other egg scatterers because no special tools or techniques are needed to protect the eggs. Set up an aquarium tank to house your White Clouds. The tank can be virtually any size, but should be commensurate with the number of fish you wish to keep. The tank can either be fully decorated, or left bare.
