In this age where people have discovered the curiosity of breeding and owning “designer” dogs, the world is now populated by a myriad of mix-breeds which have, for no other reason, given proof that Darwin’s Theory of Evolution and Natural Selection is seriously being screwed with! One such curiosity of unnatural selection is the Puggle. In this article, I will discuss my firsthand knowledge and experience associated with the mating of a 2 year old female purebred Beagle (the dam) with a purebred male Pug (the sire). Be forewarned. Puggle’s are extremely cute and lovable but there can be unexpected reactions to mating a beagle with a pug. First off, beagles have a wide disparity of litter sizes which range between 2 – 14 puppies per litter. First time beagle dams (mothers) will normally have smaller litters (3 – 5 puppies); where as more experienced dams can garner much larger litters.
