How Do You Break In An Easton Synergy Baseball Bat?
Easton Synergy is a series of composite baseball bats. The bats are made from “single system” carbon fiber sheets that are wrapped continuously along the length of the bat. The Stealth bat also has a flex handle, which provides a trampoline effect when hitting, where the barrel materials create a spring that propels the ball off the bat. All composite bats, including the Synergy, must be broken in first to achieve maximum efficiency (see Reference 4). The Synergy’s flex handle presents a challenge for the breaking in process, as additional care must be taken to hit the ball squarely and consistently over the entire surface area without weakening the handle of the bat. Set the pitching machine to throw fastballs at a minimum speed of 40 mph. Load the machine with real baseballs; you cannot break in a bat properly with soft or dimpled practice balls.
