Paracord, or parachute cord, is a versatile material used by many hikers or campers. The sturdy but lightweight nylon cord can be used for clotheslines, shoelaces, and tent ridges, as well as securing loads–even as a tourniquet in an emergency. Don’t just toss your paracord into your pack. Paracord braiding uses the cord to create a bracelet, lanyard or other item that you can unravel if you need to use the cord. Combine two useful items in one by creating a knife-handle wrap, which allows you to bring 10 feet of cord and improves your knife’s grip. Hang the cord over the handle of the blade about 1 inch from where the blade meets the handle, with 1 foot of cord on one side of the blade, and 9 feet on the other side of the blade. Complete the loop by folding the 9-foot length along the underside of the handle, higher up the handle than the 1-foot length, and create a knot by passing the 1-foot length through the loop and pulling. Wrap the 9-foot length around the handle of the blade,
