How Do You Brace An Archery Bow?
If you are into target archery using a recurve bow, it is important to know how to properly brace it. Improper bracing can ruin a beautiful bow by breaking the limb and it can also punch out your eye or cause other facial damage. There are three common ways to brace a bow: the step-through method, the push-pull method and with a bow stringer which is, by far, the best way to brace a bow. Bow Stringer Method: Slip the leather cups over the limb tips, put the larger cup on the lower limb tip. Place your foot at the center of the bow-stringer toward the upper limb tip and slip it into the notches. Make certain that your bow stringer is longer than you bow string so you can gain more leverage. Be sure that the bow stringer has not slipped off the side of the recurve of either limb when you begin to apply lift pressure to avoid the stringer from flying towards your face which can cause eye and facial damage.
