How Do You Become An Event Coordinator?
An event coordinator is a person who handles the entire cycle for putting together events, ranging from the idea for the event to the full execution of the event, including planning, scheduling and guest lists. Event coordinators may work on events ranging from weddings to concerts to industry trade shows. There is no specific educational or professional route that is required for a career as an event coordinator, but here is how you can get started. Step 1 Obtain a bachelor’s degree. Although it is technically possible to succeed without one, employers in the work force today are beginning to expect serious applicants to have a minimum of an undergraduate degree for entry-level positions. For a career in event coordination, try to choose a related major. For example, if you want to work on arranging events in the entertainment industry, choose a major in entertainment management. If you want to arrange corporate events, choose a major in marketing, communications or public relations.
