How Do You Become An Avionics Technician?
Avionics technicians work directly with aircraft safety. They are responsible for testing, repairing and maintaining the electronic systems and equipment used in aircraft. They generally work on radar systems, microphones, headsets and other communication devices. Becoming an avionics technician can take up to three years with post-secondary programs. You can, however, obtain a degree online, but some find that option stressful. According to the Bureau of Labor Statics, avionic technicians earned an average hourly wage close to $23.71 in May 2008. Ensure you obtain a high school diploma that includes upper-level courses in math and English. Also take computers, technology, physics, drafting and design. Enroll in post-secondary education.
