Audio-visual technicians set up, maintain and operate AV equipment. This can include monitors and screens, projectors, DVD players, computers, cameras, speakers, microphones and other multimedia equipment. This technology is used in a wide range of settings—including classrooms, conferences, meetings, museums, galleries, theaters, concerts, sports events and fashion shows. Take several courses in high school that relates to this position, such as computers, electronics technology, information technology and career development. These courses will help provide you with the foundation you’ll need. Obtain a certificate in audiovisual. Certification is available through industry associations, such as InfoComm International.
