How Do You Become An Animal Care Specialist?
An animal care specialist is a professional who works in the care and management of animals in a variety of settings. While there are no official degree or job requirements to become one, most people find that gaining experience in a multitude of animal settings makes their job hunt much easier. Decide early on what type of environment you are most comfortable with. As an animal care specialist, you are allowed to work anywhere from the local pet store to the U.S. Army. Depending on your decision, though, you may be required to have certain skills and qualifications to apply for the job, so it’s important that you learn early on what is expected of you. Develop good people skills before you decide to become an animal care specialist. While your primary job will be to attend to animals, you will still have to deal with their owners, other staff members and, in some instances, the general public. Make sure you are organized and are good at communicating and leading. Be willing to learn.
