How Do You Become A Suzuki Method Teacher?
The Suzuki method of talent education has been becoming increasingly popular in the last few years. Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, who died in 1998, developed a program of music teaching that involved listening, imitation and guidance from a teacher. His program was first implemented by violinists in Matsoumoto, Japan, but his philosophy has spread to all kinds of instruments and even early childhood development. Becoming a Suzuki certified teacher is hard work, but very rewarding. Step 1 Find and attend an Every Child Can (ECC) course. This one day course is an introduction to Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy of talent education, and is the first requirement for Suzuki certification. Step 2 Record and submit your audition DVD. Every teacher trainee is required to submit an audition DVD. The audition songs are pre-selected for each instrument. Step 3 Join the SAA.
